I'm not sure Ken but the ramifications from this could spread to other States. The person who started this will not stop just in Victoria, she has the potential and ideology that she can have all bird sales banned Nationally.
Sam is doing a great job in helping sort this out but he doesn't have to but as president of The Finch Society of AUSTRALIA inc he feels he is acting Nationally for the societies name sake and l   him. Craig

IN MY OPINION; I'm not so sure about the squeaky. It's someone trying to use their sexuality to gain name for herself. The more people humanize animals the worse these types of issues will become. In my estimation, it comes down to promoting responsible animal use. We, as breeders and/or keepers are using our animals, and responsibly. There are stinkers in every profession and birds are no exception. I've met persons I've gotten interested in birds, and although these people cry about cages. These are the same people who believe their dogs should sleep on silk pillows and eat prime rib, with gravy. These type of people are convoluted, distorting and twisting facts to suit their agenda.
This person claims no cages, yet she cages birds. And is promoting a carrying crate. It seems she has found a way to get a minister to behave with with misfeasance. And the minister ignoring by using an aide to send out form letter Is guilty of nonfeasance PERIOD.

Note: I added in MY opinion. As most comments I posted on this thread have been deleted. I know if two AFF members on this forum are her pawns. So if she wants to make threats as against the forum. I assume responsibility for my opinion. And if she wants to litigate me over my opinion. Bring it on.

PS: doing Google search. Let Birds Fly Free are setting up in every state. Good lord. What next.

Rightyo now I can understand if our birds were wild caught, but given the fact that our birds are aviary bred makes it all the more stupid to do this. Does she know imports were stopped in 63 and I think its amazing that we still have so many different species. I know we have lost some species but thats not down to husbandry. This just proves how good aussie breeders are that we still have such a variety of all birds not just finches. And if it wasn't for breeding programs and the such more endangered species would have disappeared. This problem needs to be fought by all of us.otherwise all the good that our fellow bird breeders before us is all in vain.

I would like her to meet my mum, (would not be pretty, and she is 82) before dad died they had a pair of bourkes for over 20 years. Well done. Now she has a "companion bird" a budgie. They love each other. My sister in law has a rainbow lorikeet, as good as a dog. It loves being a "companion bird".

As Roma said "Load of rubbish."

I wrote a little something: Paris Yves & her “Let Companion Birds Fly” campaign

Paris' voice is dominating the discussion thus far. Hopefully I can push this blog post up the search rankings to take some of that dominance away.

Wow! Awesome work Shane.

We (The FSA) are still waiting for a response to our submission. I hope this indicates we will receive a more considered response compared to others I have read. Here's the text of an email sent this morning to Minister Pulford's Secretary:
Sam Davis wrote:Hi again Katrina,

Just following up on our conversation early last week where you indicated a ministerial response would be forthcoming by Friday last (26/8/15). I am yet to receive the response as indicated. In addition, I am in receipt of copies of numerous responses from Minister Pulford to other submissions regarding this issue which were all made subsequent to our submission and in some cases referenced our submission.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Kind regards,

Sam Davis
