We live in the Clarence Valley Northern NSW and have just got our first avery 180H x 50D x 80W. We have 3 pair of Zebra finches and they seem to get on really well. We put in 4 breeding boxes and have 3 eggs in one, 5 in another, one they don't seem to like and the other has been filled with bedding material and a hen is sitting, but with no eggs.
A friend has 2 pair of Gouldeon finches we can have, but I'm not sure if we're ready yet.
Questions:
The first egg was laid 14 days ago, when are the due to hatch.
Is it safe to introduce the 2 pair of Gouldeons while the Zebras are nesting.

Thank you so much. I think we're going to get pretty hooked on these adorable birds.

Welcome, you live in a very nice part of the country, just spent a few days in your area.

Welcome to the forum. You really will need another cage the size of the one you already have for the Gouldians if you want them to breed. As the cage you have is obviously already going to be overfull if these eggs hatch.

Thanks for the 'hello' messages. Once the young have been removed from our avery, do you think it would be OK to add our 4 new Gouldeons then? We have another smaller avery we can house them in when we collect them tomorrow.

There is always time to expand in the future. I have 4 avairys, but it has taken me years to get to this stage. Years in which my children have done their entire education.
