Doin' mine in the next couple of weeks. Going in this weekend, gould boxes out, old brush out, industrial vacuum the floors, new sand/gravel base, new perches, coopex spray, holding cage will be full. Keeping a couple of pairs of normals. (Stars/painteds) but going to try something new. Diamonds and orange breasts and maybe Saints. Have the mealie box started, hopefully will pick up.

Hi Tony, it's coastal tea tree. Can last up to 3 years and beyond so you don't have to do a change every year other than pull out old nests. The leaves don't drop off as easily as most melaleuca's do leaving just sticks. CraigMal67 wrote:Gday Jack
Will be refurbishing soon, I Have used Callistemon and coastal rosemary previously ,can I ask, whats the good stuff ????
Thanking You
Tony

Having grown up with the Beach at the end of our street we had easy access to Coastal Tea Tree now living inland we
can only access other types of brush which struggle to last the season.
I can't brush large areas, I instead have tubes holding smaller bunches so sections can be replaced without disturbing larger areas.
These days we do not re brush until September, the reason if we renew July/ Aug. the birds would go into breeding mode too early.
New brush will set them off, by brushing Sept. the 1st round of chicks should be fledging about 4 weeks later which is Oct. and the start
of our good weather. I seems to work for my area.
Also if I could I would go back to the coastal brush.
