I've got it and i recommend it,it was first published in 1999.It covers all 290 species of true finches and sparrows with range maps. Also all subspecies of a specie in that country of origin.
Didn't think it was that dear but i've had it a long time. Cheers Craig

Don't judge a book by its cover . . or its price . . or its reviews

Not saying that this is not a good book . . I have never read it

But just because it costs a lot doesn't necessarily make it good

There is a broad enough membership of this forum to give a good evaluation of most avian publications . . I would go by that rather than the $$ value

The Nile Bookshop has it for $97.49 and Fishpond is only 20 cents dearer - they do not charge postage. I use the following website www.booko.com.au to find the cheapest books. Just type in the books title or authors name and once you have settled on an edition it will list books from cheapest to dearest (including postage) from at least 50 online bookstores worldwide.

I have it & it is an excellent finch reference book. As Craig said it shows all species & at least describes all known subspecies including physical differences as well as ranges inhabited. Other general information on each species includes information not found in other books. I regard it as a must have for any book collection with a finch bias.
