When I took my Gouldian's from a fully roofed cage and placed them in an aviary 4x3m (1/2 open roof) they were very nervous for a week or so.
They tended to stay in the covered part of the aviary and spent a far bit of time looking up at the sky when in the flight.
They do none of that now, unless something flies overhead.
