Hi All,
yes my little single hen is sitting well on her 7 eggs, 6th day today :D it's been hot weather so probably only 9 or 10 to go :)
Also my silver hen in the cage next-door has rolled 4 of her 5 eggs into a little bundle behind her little flowerpot, so hoping for something here too :D

It must be quail breeding season! Lol mine are laying too! :)
Do you number your eggs or just let them sit until most hatch n assume the rest are duds?

After chicks hatch I wait 4 days for any remainders, as I had a bad experience with throwing out eggs the day after the majority hatched... one broke on the way to the compost and fully formed baby quail slithered out onto my hand... dead of course poor thing.

I'm kind of casual where quail are concerned. Let them lay when and however, ditto sitting. Only bother to clean eggs off the floor once the young have feathers in their wings instead of all fluff. Then do a complete floor removal. Lost one of the young, drowned in the water bowl over the weekend (38/40 and steamy as a sauna and me working). So of course the canary decided it was her turn to hatch chicks. 1 survived, 1 did not. 2 dud eggs, but think she layed them before the new boy had time to do more than whistle a greeting.

just 3 or 4 days now :D
I know it's only quails but get excited about anything new arriving here, from zebras to purple grenadier waxbills :D

Both the young canary and the young quail have coloured up just fine and are almost ready to, fly the nest and be sexable, respectively. And Mum quail is laying again. Junior is silver like Dad. Good luck with yours Jay.

That's great Jay and FB. Would love to see a pic of your cinnamon once feathered Jay.
We lost one of ours - the little silver - but the others are growing fine - except for one actually. Am about to post re this.
