Can anyone tell me what other finches can hybridize with the green singer finch?

I recently acquired a male and his song almost rivals that of my goldfinches.

I am looking to breed some mules for song birds this year.

Greenfinch
Goldfinch
Redpoll
Yellowhammer
Canary
Siskins
Serins
Cirl and Reed Buntings
These are all have i have seen hybridize with Green Singer and Large and little Green Singer species hybridizing together and as well as Grey Singers

But why do it and polute our stocks....Craig

I have the small variety and am now planning to breed a goldfinch green singer mule......going to be a lot harder than your run of the mill canary hybrid

Respect your view point but disagree.

I only consider it polluting if the hybrids can reproduce as is the case with some some fish species I used to breed.

Its not like these birds are going to go out and reproduce and weaken any existing species purity.

Its purely to produce the best song bird possible.

A few mules here or there isnt going to hurt although I am aware I am probably in the minority on this one

Its more about adding the power of the canary song to the melody of the finch.

Goldfinch for example sings very well but the song is not so strong so we cross him with a canary to achieve this.

All on all I do not support breeding hybrids with the exception of song birds.

I must agree with the others and dislike those that breed hybrids knowingly.
I can not see one upside in it and do the so called mules really sing as well as a good Canary.
All I see is a Green Singer going to waste. E Orix

I find it funny that most people oppose mule breeding when they are advocates for colour mutation breeding.

Who can buy a normal zebra finch these days and be 100% percent sure its not split for one of many other colour mutations??

Mutations of this nature weaken strains when not done properly.

In my opinion there is nothing better than a natural looking bird especially a gould or zeb.

At least mules cannot reproduce and therefore pose no risk to contaminating aviary populations.

There is no right or wrong on this just different view points.

In Europe every second canary breeder will have mules and even here I guarantee that most Lebanese, Turk,Maltese and Spaniards (like myself) breeders will breed mules.
