It's been years since I bred some of these and I was down to my last pair. Not sure how many fledged - at least 2 - very pleased!

No white ants, which made for an even nicer surprise. The cock spent about a year on his own till I got a hen from a mate. I spotted him feeding young painted fledglings a few times during this period so he's a ripper.
I think I've spotted 3 young - one might have been the hen - these things really hide away.

Camera - pretty decent handheld but has been cropped significantly.

Well done Sam, they would be a great surprise without termites. A strain of maggot/mealworm bred one's would make life a little easier breeding them. Craig

The hen is from Joe Cavill and was bred on maggots. Joe breeds reasonable numbers of good size on maggots.

I think if more breeders are changing to maggots it will give others a chance with all of the pytilia's  Craig

Congratulations. Glad you got the boy a mate, and that they got it right.

Just spotted a goldwing fledgling today - just over a year since the last ones based on posts above. Pretty sure there's more based on the parent's behaviour. I have 2 adult pairs at present but would be great to get an established colony going properly.
Here's a crap video. Late afternoon with light in totally the wrong the direction.
