I have tried to set up an avatar but the size limit baffles my most valiant efforts. I have to make it so small that it seems to disappear into electrons. What is it that I'm doing wrong?

Mick,
The best way that I know is to download one of the free photo resizing apps from the net. You can crop your image to get rid of the extraneous parts, then select the required number of pixels for width and height and save the resized image with a new file name. You can then upload that file for your AFF avatar. It's not as difficult as it may seem. Just google "free photo resizer" and try a few to find the one that you like best, as some are easier to use than others. (I did my Southern Cross by that method).

Mick, the most annoying part of setting up your account is probably the avatar photo. You have to resize it so it is a maximum of 120x120 pixels in size. Try Photoshop or an online photo resizer.
Have a nice day!
