I've been doing some research on compatible species and I really like the green twinspot ( or greenbacked) , but I can't seem to find much information about them on this forum.
Nor can i find their availability. Are they rare ?
I'm hoping no can find a breeder at the bird sale in Prairiewood.

No such thing as Green Twinspots in Australia anymore sorry Isabella
They were gone a long time ago, but were here in Aus in very small numbers before imports were banned, and then they died out very quickly from what I have heard after importation was banned
Barely any of the twinspots are here in Aus anymore, and if there are some (which would be a very few, secret amount, away from prying eyes), like the Peters and Dybowskis, they would be commanding very high prices in the thousands, and would be only for the best of breeders out of a selected few
What is your situation and what species do you have in mind to mix with others
Thanks
Noah Till

Oh no, that's awful !! So bad
Well, like, I'm having an aviary built for me next Monday actually ..
So nothing as yet, but when I was like 20, I used to breed Cordons and Ruddies, had some Gouldians too, and parrots.. but I stopped cos I got really sick..so had to stop everything for a few years .. things are better for me now, but I'm researching before I buy anything at all... as in what birds are placid ..I'd prefer placid for now. But that's awful about the green twinspot.
Thanks for the info though Noah..

No worries, yes the internet can be full of lies sometimes
How big is your aviary getting built?
Cordon and Ruddies are great, placid birds. Other finches that are placid as well are Orange breasts, Munias, Blue Faced Parrotfinches, Stars, St Helenas and Painteds and other finches like those are very placid
Good luck that all goes well with your new aviary!
Thanks

Thats a very good size, would fit around 6+ pairs of finches, no more than 10 pairs (unless you don't mind about breeding low numbers)
What species are you planning to put in there at the moment
Thanks

3 or 4 Double bars, 1 or 2 pairs Gouldians, 1 pair seagreen parrot finches, maybe 1 pair plum headed finches ....not sure what else, but I won't be overfilling... maybe yellow headed Stars
And I really want to like the finches I have and not just get a whole bunch of different things if that makes sense.

Have a nice bushy corner for the Double Bars to nest away from the others, as the others are a bit more bold. Enjoy.
