Yes Di, That is it in the winter or cool areas. There is also a tropical one Drymaria cordata that only grows on the coastal areas. Both are excellent green food. Luckily I have both growing here.

What is the plant thats just like lawn or grass and produces heaps of seed through winter ? They use it in parks and some footy fields. I thought that was chickweed. I collect some two or three nights a week from the local park as i know it isnt sprayed ?

Hi bluebutterfly I am keen to find out where you are ordering your chickweed from and the price please.I have a link showing the plant and recommending it for european birds, and since I keep goldfinches they should love it.Somehow I am thinking you are ordering just a seed packet to grow your own not seed in bulk.

It was from ebay, I just put chickweed seed in as a search and two sellers came up...much to my surprise!
As it was only cheap I thought it was worth a try. Only small amounts in the packs but there was multiple packs, but not enough to sow a really large area.
