Hi,

Welcome back to the monthly Aussie Finch Forum newsletter! This one is both late and content-thin, but hopefully you find something worth reading further.

We're approaching the middle of spring now, which is one of the most exciting and productive times for Australian finch breeders. Are you trying a new species this year? Head over to the forum and tell us about it!

In forum-related news, over the next couple of months we're planning to add a 'swag store' to the website. Pending negotiations with suppliers, we hope to be able to offer food, supplements, worming + medication, etc, at great prices, with proceeds supporting upkeep and development of the forum. You'll hear more about this at a later date.

The Jacarini finch, also known as the blue-black grassquit, or jacarina, is a small tanager found throughout South America. The species is uncommon in captivity in Australia and Europe, and quite rare in North America. Although they are not particularly difficult to keep and breed, they have a preference for large well-brushed aviaries, which limits the number of finch keepers able to successfully house them.
