I have Crimsons with young atm and have noticed bit by bit they seem to be clearing the youngs poo out of the nest. The only issue is it's starting to build up around the entrance and make it smaller. I'm just wandering if anyone has experienced this before (Crimsons or another species) and what did you do?

My guess is the young have reached the age that they are producing larger droppings. The young themselves will be aiming up the walls of the nest and the entrance away from the central area of the nest chamber that they spend the time. Its a form of nest hygiene and shows the young are growing.

I have had this with Crimsons, Painteds and other species.

My view only

Cheers Alf63,

It never blocked off the entrance? That was my only concern. It seems a very small nest for 5 young...

Have bred many crimsons and have never seen a problem from droppings. I wouldn't worry about it.
