Cant agree more......thats why mine are going in on their own and I'm going to build a new holding aviary........I could easily chuck 'em in with other birds but thought exactly the same.....these guys are relatively delicate, and have cost me a pretty sum so I'm going to set them up as best I can.....As Orix said, I've gone out and built a heap of suspendeds so that my Lorikeets can be housed as individual pairs.........the Bloods come close to the same cost per pair

On the Cabinet breeding scandal...........They are in Quarantine now, inside, in a Gouldian cabinet.....minus the nest box........was just wondering what experiences were out there.

Mickw, yes have tried it. Mine was 1.8 long x 0.5 x 0.6 and this was to small, hen had no were to hide. Would not do again or recommend it either.

For me the case is closed now....crimsons are agressive and not to be trusted in mixed company.
When a cock will bash up his 'missus' it makes you wonder about the pair bond.
Given the small confines it seems the cock had nothing better to do.....no excuse, guilty as charged.

This has in no way deterred me from keeping them however, allowances just need to be made for them.
The breeding urge manifests itself in lots of ways, forwarned is forarmed or at least it should be.
If it was'nt a challenge many of our best birds would be long gone.

Still love the healthy banter created among us, always willing to climb back on the old soap box, win, lose or draw.

Ah but the point is with healthy debate, no one ever loses, we all win by becoming more informed.

Chasing some of these in WA can anyone put me on to someone who is breeding them or interstate, may consider freighting from other states, love these birds and want to establish a couple of lines.

hI jAYBIRD, Good to catch up again last weekend. Re Crimsons - I would have no hesitation keeping them in a mixed collection - even red birds like Fires and painted. Historically there may have been odd aggressive birds, but these are few and far - I have bred 60 and keep 5 pair in mixed collections and to date have NEVER had an aggressive bird,. Wish I could say the same re Yellow siskins. I even had a hen Gouldian that could slam a mask dove against the wall of an aviary by grabing it by a flight feather and swinging it full bore into a wall!
