Came across this and found it an interesting read about the recovery plan for the White Bellied Crimson Finch & Northern sub-species Star Finch.

If anyone has anymore info about the progress of the recovery plan I'd be very interested to know how it's going, not many of these birds left in the wild!!!!

No information but it’s a sad situation when you look at the budget. It's a sad state of affairs when the species stand on the brink and researchers are begging for $1500 for a year's research. I know the cake can only be sliced so many ways but surely Australia's collective responsibility for environmental responsibility needs to rethink it's priorities. $1500 is pathetic - it wouldn't even cover the cost of single fenced waterhole such as would have saved the Southern star finch
