A couple of years ago I came upon a nesting pair on an island on the Severn River.

We all wish we had more zoom sometimes
nice shot, would love to see plumheads live!

We do get Painteds and Stars where I work but havent seen any yet

We have them wild at Devils Bend , trouble is they look like small sparrows till you get close enough and then they fly away ..

Which Severn River did you see them, NSW or QLD?

I saw some recently flocking with zebras at Bylong, NSW. There was also diamond firetails and double bars within a couple of kilometres.

Severn River northern NSW... upstream of the Pindari Dam.
I also saw Diamonds, Zebs and Double bars on that trip. Beautiful area. Murray Cod are also abundant ;)
