Superb Fairywren, Blue Wren (common name in Vic)

Diet:
Mainly insectivorous - spiders, crickets, bugs, ants.
Small amounts of seed, fruit & flowers

Basic Breeding Info:
When: Breeding occurs from spring through to late summer.
Nest: a round or domed structure made of loosely woven grasses and spider webs, with an entrance in one side
Average Clutch Size: 2 to 4 eggs
Incubation Period: 14 to 15 days
Leave nest: 13 - 14 days, can feed themselves after about 40 days

Male wrens pluck yellow petals and display them to females as part of a courtship display.

Requirements:
Sheltered nest sites down low (less than 1m)
Nestlings are fed a diet of larger items such as caterpillars and grasshoppers.
Spiders webs are used for binding grasses together in nests.
Paperback branches provide nesting material and insects for food.
Leaf litter to scratch through, especially if aviary is not natural earth floor and well planted.

$150 to $250 per pair, may vary between states.
