The biggest aviary i have them in is 2.5 x 3
They freak out in that one.
I think 5 x 5 would be ideal.
Maybe theyll calm down after a few generations. They are worth the effort and will be ok in your aviary so long as its not over crowded. Youll breed them in your aviary and we really need the numbers.
Just for comparison i brought a pair of goldfinches (trapped of course). They are on 3 eggs with 2 fostered under a single yellow siskin hen. I was mowing the lawn and the goldfinch hen didnt budge. I make eye contact with my ogf and it freaks out.
Do you have them already?

Haven't got any. Just doing some research on different types of finches that (A) might like the Tasmanian climate (B) a bird that doesn't need lots of live food and (C) something that is a bit different
I saw your photos and thought I would look into Oriental Greenfinch
I read a few things and saw that there is not a lot of them around
I don't know if I can get any down here or even a current price
