G'day
Its been on my mind for a while now, and I have really been wondering about Violet ears in Australia
There are a lot of stories I have been told, and I have heard they are in very low numbers, even though there is pretty well NO literature written on them in our aviaries.
I have heard also that a lot of them are being fostered under Bengalese and others alike
Thanks
Noah Till

Sadly Violet Ears have gone, i don't think there should be any discussion on this waxbill in Australia. Purple Grenadier waxbills are just holding on but without new blood they might be doomed as well. imo

Violet-ears were around in the 1990s and were being bred well by at least one breeder at that time but I haven't seen or heard of anything of them except the odd old bird since about 15 years ago.

Not nessecarily Violet-Eared Waxbills, but in issue 42 of the now decrepit finches and softbills magazine (released in 2015), NZ breeders Iris and Kevin Fosters still have Pintailed Parrotfinches and Dzybowskis Twinspots...
