Well done nirep, I'm also doing well with the Goldfinches, 7 fledged so far all were sold while still in nest, and the hen is on eggs again!

Excellent Netsurfer and love the photos as well. It's a bonus if you are able to sell off some at will.I haven't really tried selling yet but I am going to have to pass on a couple of birds.I am limited with space as I haven't got an aviary two cages that's it.I am just happy to finally have my own cage bred birds as the couple I have now were wild caught at a pet shop.Good luck with it all and well done you are obviously a handy breeder.

Good stuff.

I remember goldfinches on my uncles farm in Spain and I have been a massive fan ever since.

How did you breed them? I see your cage is bigger than the standard canary breeder.

Did you have to give them plenty of privacy?

Were they wild caught birds?

I am hoping to breed some this year.

Welcome to the forum mate :) .My birds were wild caught and not ideal to breed with but I was lucky. To make it short lots of yummy food and green food very important.Other is the hen has to feel secure and established.Get yourself a healthy hen and the bigger the cage the better.Next breeding season starts in October but more likely December as they tend to be late breeders.

My question to you is do you have some goldies already? If you haven't got yourself the birds yet I suggest cage bred goldfinches.Netsurfer has some for sale at a good price at the moment.
