I hear what you guys are saying about wild goldfinches and the risk it comes with.I also hate to hear they are continually being trapped is massive numbers.The problem lies not enough cage bred is available out there and at the same time not enough demand.You have to be at the right place at the right time to pick some up.

I myself had to start with wild ones but after time I have my own line of bred birds.If someone wants to start up I say they are best housed individually and are quite happy to be alone.The cock bird will sing a lot more on his own.This way you eliminate the risk and after a year they might be ready to breed.
