popularity of goldfinches

is it just me or has there been a big rise in goldfinch popularity in the last couple of months? not just here on the foum either.... :think:

I currently have 2 gold finches and will be looking
To purchase another 2 or 3 soon to obtain a pair out of them.
I live their song.

Not from this black duck , had them and sold them .

Proper boofheads in a mixed aviary but as a single specie aviary I imagine they would be quite nice .

Nice looking bird though .

My opinion only.

Hi Jayburd I hope you are right ,not popular enough as I would like them to be :( .The forum is slowly growing in numbers and we are getting members from overseas with the majority of the goldfinch questions.In Europe the european goldfinch is the second most kept cage bird after the canary.Jayburd you say not just on the forum. Where else have you seen the increase in popularity I would like to know more please. :wave:

I have seen a few appearing in aviaries round the traps... yes I hope they are on the rise too, they are very nice birds :)

Hi Jay I got a book at the finch convention from ABK titled “The Goldfinch” by Massimo Natale . 220 pages just on Gold finches it’s a good read. :thumbup:

Yes I saw that at the Convention - looked great! but too expensive for my current budget :(

I would like to get back into them. Only have a male so will need to get him a mate. Male is a litle crazy though. Perhaps an aviary bred hen would be the go.

What's the going rate for avairy bred goldfinches in Melbourne.

Funny with these ones....

Cost varies where live depending on availability.

I dare say most of the "aviary bred" birds where I am from are wild caught from Melbourne.

I would not pay anymore than 20 per bird but have seem them up to 45 a bird.
