Ok what seed are you giving them?It sounds like they are not getting enough seed or the right mix.The attacker should take his share and get full ,perch and settle and then the other has a chance to get his fill.My goldfinches get agro when the seed dish had been low and when first introduced it's on but they sort them selves out after they take turns to feed.Fake greens from cheap as chips or similar.Yes it is a grate down the bottom.

i give them finch seed(but they toss seed out to get to the black seeds)and i gave a little bit of cockatiel mix(i took out the sunflower seeds)
do u no y they chuck it out?
i have 4 bird treats i have been saving up until i get low on seed i have 2x cockatiel bar's and 2x finch bar's(it has small black round seeds,millit seed,and other seeds)

I started with th above recipe but I changed to cous cous,ground pine nuts,egg and some veg.They cant get enough of it.Buy some sunflower hearts as they can't always crack the coated original sunflower seed.

were can i get niger seed and would the recipe help with the fat for awhile until i get some niger seed.can i peel the sun flower seeds

Sunflower hearts/kernals from coles or woolies.They will be ok as is it just might mean more cranky.The egg food might not work straight away, you have to be patient till they work it out.You can try cracking some sunflower seed with a hammer and serve.Chicory seed is a good one but hard to get.I grow my own.Here is more links.Goodluck.

you will still need to supply seed to the birds if you are giving them finch bars ( treats ) haydn92.

probs a good idea to research a bit more about a bird before you go and buy it. saves a lot of hassle
