I have a cage 1.4m long x 1m wide x 1.8 m high with a pair of orange breast and a pair of red cheek cordon bleu. Would RFPF be too bossy? I've read other parrot finches can be but can't see anything about the red face. Do they have a loud song?

Red faces are very active birds, and in a small space I imagine wold cause some disturbance.
They are not very noisy, but they do have quite a loud trill. Loud, but pleasant :)

The males have a beautiful trill

Not aggressive to others usually

When they are run in a colony I find there is usually a dominant pair breeding better than the other pairs.

They are very active Finches

Blue Face Parrot Finches are the most aggressive.

This cage may be a bit tight for three breeding pairs of finches, I feel. Display would be ok. Just a thought :)

If you put RFPF in with them there would be no breeding by OB or RCCB....I pair in Cage that size would be OB if you intend to breed... try this site for info on RFPF http://www.finchsociety.org/cfa/redface/redface.htm

Thanks for all the advice and links. I will have to give this more consideration. I have some larger outdoor cages I can rotate birds with or might just have to be patient and keep RFPF at a later date. Patience is important when space is limited.
Appreciate the help.

Winston

edit: The website about noise levels is great.
