Hi,
Has anyone had experience with Gouldian Finch hens loosing their head feathers. It has only occurred the last few months. If you have been able to overcome it, what were your solutions? Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,
The general consensus for this common problem seems to be that it is due to hormone imbalance.
There is a fair bit of information on the internet, usually implicating iodine levels, or genetic weakness.
Here is one article on the problem: https://ladygouldian.com/content/why-my-gouldian-bald

Not sure if it's a coincidence, but I have two Gouldian hens that are completely bald right now and both of them are still nesting.

It could not hurt to get some cuttlefish for them. Particularly if you are able to get it fresh from an unpoluted beach with the salt still on it. Do you have more nests than hens?
