I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of Blue-throated conures. I have kept similar, these being: Quakers, Green cheeks, Maroon-bellies and Jenday Conures in the past. At the moment the only parrot species I have is a pair of King Parrots. I have a spare aviary to suit, just for some reason I feel a little apprehensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had a pair for 5 years. Beautiful birds, very entertaining. Only laid clear eggs unfortunately.

If they are in you heart, let only the air and opportunity be in your way. Go for them.

Some years ago a mate of mine bought a small number of parrots for a large number of dollars as part of his retirement programme

Among them was a pair of BTC's, for which he paid $8K . . . By the time he'd bred a couple $4k was the going rate :irked:

What are they 'worth' these days?
