I just caught another spotted turtle dove about 2 hours ago, I'm thinking of catching it a mate to breed with.
They are not going in the aviaries with my birds because I know about diseases and all.
Any way here is a pic: (I think its a male)

if they're anything like my laughing turtles, they should be good :)
don't know how it'll settle down to being in captivity.... apparently they take it well, according to books :P
not sure how you sex these guys, but I've never seen one that looks different to yours.
good luck with them!

Forgot to mention there is this chocolate coloured (dark brown) spotted turtle dove hanging around, if I catch it I will take pics.
(it looks darker than the usual young s. t. dove so probably not a juvenile)

if you catch them technically you shouldn't let them go again, they're a terrible pest. but I understand :P I hate killing things.
the chocolate one sounds interesting, I remember DB posting some chocolate Crested pigeons recently.....

He/She has settled in a bit more now, yesterday if I just walked past the cage it would flap around, now I can put my hand in the cage and it would just calmly sit on the perch  Jay I think those books you were referring to are correct

Here "it" (dove) is today, I changed where the food and water are, as you can see in the first pic the food and water was on the floor, now it Ive got metal dish/containers on the cage bars.
