I guess someone forgot to tell Jap quail they dont know how. This is the sort of BS that starts when we read that they have forgotten and listen to experts. No offence to the experts.

Another person I know had one hatch 12 eggs a few weeks ago as well. Give them the opportunity and they'll take it.

Let me get this straight - your quail have internet access (since they're reading this thread) but you wont give them a bale of straw?
They have work to do - no time to sit around making nests and keeping eggs warm. They pay for their own internet.

Males crow (call) and Hens Don't.Sometimes can go by head size. You can't go by colours as they are all mixed between mutations and normal birds I find. And when they lay there a hen.

With some colours there is a distinct dimorphism with male having chestnut throat and females with a white throat (normal, italian and manchurian). In all colours, the male has a caudal 'foam' gland at the back of the cloaca - push behind the bum and shaving cream comes out (still not sure on its function). Males also call.

The lady I got mine from tipped each one up and squeezed the business end of the quail , males produced stuff females did not ...... still traumatized by flashbacks of that day and what I saw.
