Update on 29NOV15 meeting.

After a overcast day start to the day it was disappointing to see only 5 people turn up at the deer farm. For those of us who attended we had plenty to talk about including subjects like: where the swamp grass is growing locally, location of various seeding grasses, price of birds, world peace, what is on the perch, who are the ibreeders of the rarer finches in Australia.

I would like to say that anyone who is interested in birds should make a point of attending the next meeting, date/location unknown as yet. I have a major announcement to make concerning ********.

It was deciding that the next meeting will be held in Port Macquarie in February 2016.

Hi Paul, you need 5 posts to be able to use the classifieds (Wanted) do not use some one's topic for buying birds. Craig

It has been a while since we have arranged a bbq??? pending the number of people attending and a aviary visit.

I would like to invite all the finch keepers in the Mid north coast area of NSW to Gordon Clark's aviaries, located in the Beechwood area of NSW. Gordon has been involved within the bird game for a long time and has generously opened his business and home aviaries for us. For those of us new to this area, Gordon has a very large set of aviaries located on his rural farm adjacent to his bird shop 'Beechwood Aviaries'.

These is a 'must see' aviary visit.

Host ..........Gordon Clark
Location.... Beechwood
Time .........10am
Date ...........Sunday 27NOV16

If you intend to go, Please PM your details as this will help Gordon with the catering.

More trivia . .
But only a bit off topic

Bought P-T Whydahs from Gordon, probably more than 20 years ago, reasonable price and quality birds

Due to be picked up about 7.30 or so Sunday night, and arrived at airport to find the place empty and freight shed locked and in complete darkness

No response to phone calls . .

Following a sleepless night, I arrived at the freight shed at first light to find it open but unattended . . So in I went, located the birds, & took them home . . still nobody about

Even though there must have been paperwork with my details to show that birds had arrived, there was never a phone call from said freight company to advise, ask, or whatever

I have never sent or received birds on a weekend since that night

Good to hear that Gordon is still in the game, and more strength to his arm

Gordon is one of very few long-term bird dealers I have known (out of many) who is a genuine down-to-earth very nice bloke.
