Where do they sell them, from their pet shops or retail outlet.
One of the dealers at M/Bridge sale was selling at Geelong sale the next day.
They pick the saleable species or negotiate for the common ones.
I have no objection at all in seeing dealers buying birds providing they do not have access
to buy birds prior to the sale opening.
They also generally do OK at the sales end when they can negotiate unsold birds at
bargain prices at times.
After you have travelled around sales you will notice certain areas seem to suit a
particular specie as a result there are many for sale at cheaper prices.
At Murray Bridge the common species still available at the opening time
were Normal Gouldians and Painted Finches both bred in big numbers over there.
I saw Painted go for $20 per pair and Gouldians down as low as $25 per pair.
and many went home unsold.

Yep agree with you David not worth the petrol and time traveling. Its a shame that this is happening. And it shouldn't. Its time for the clubs to wake up or there won't be birds sales. Its already pressed getting people to join your clubs. I f they don't have decent sales will be the end of bird keeping. Because most people can't afford dealer prices. And the price of seed going up and up that's why its a dying hobby in my opinion. And thats a shame in my eyes ive kept birds on and off for 32 years. And its a part of me passed on for three generations and im trying to pass on to my daughter but if it goes the way its going whats the point. If it dies it will be a great loss.
