Very positive meeting yesterday. All is looking good with a few details to finalise.

We're just finalising a letter to explain the matter - will be released in the next day or so.

Outline of 15/6/2017 meeting regarding the Victorian bird sale issue. All is looking positive at this stage for a permanent solution.

Thanks Sam and all involved. Now having sold at two sales the two main differences I see as a seller are. 1. How the birds are held during the short time of the sale in the selling cages as per regulations. 2. less paperwork for native birds on the sale day. Both of these I see as a positive. I am sure there are many things the organisers have to adhere to.Such as both sales did not let the general public in until they were happy with all cages after the published start time. Im sure with time sellers will become more accustomed with the new changes.

Hi all

The puppy farm Bill is scheduled to be debated in the Upper House on December 14th. The Minister's second reading speech in the upper house is here - Minister Pulford's Speech Scroll down to the bird bit - it's very positive.

Correspondence with the opposition and various cross bench members makes it unclear whether the Bill will pass in the Upper House. I think we are fine regardless - our exemption would remain if the Bill is rejected and the amended Bill is essentially what we have asked for from the start of this whole fiasco. The Animal Welfare Victoria caper is more concerning. Not sure what you Victorians did to deserve all this? Did one of you kill a black cat? :lolno:

FYI, the following is our recent communication to Minister Pulford's adviser - we await a response...
I think it is fair to say we are pleased with the Minister's comments on our matter within her second reading speech. Please pass on our thanks. We look forward to working through the details of the "Declared Bird Organisation" system in due course. Specifically, we continue to seek a commitment from the Minister to leave the current exemption in place for at least the duration of 2018 whilst implementation and education of the new system takes place.

We also request URGENT details of Animal Welfare Victoria given it is planned to commence shortly. There is much confusion regarding it's role, specifically:
1. Legislation for which it will have responsibility,
2. Connection to the Animal Welfare Action Plan/ POCTA Review, and
3. Consultative structures with which we may engage.
Regards
Sam

Thanks Skeeter for above Post.

Below comes courtesy & permission of the Central Coast Avicultural Society Inc where David was loved by all.

God called your name so gently that only you could hear
No-one heard the footsteps of the Angel drawing near
Softly from the shadows, there came a gentle call,
You closed your eyes and went sleep... you quietly left us all.

David will be sadly missed in the Avicultural Family of the Central Coast, The Hunter Area and Aviculture in general.

To Tammy and your loving family,
We are saddened at the loss of your beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather.
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, and courage to face the days ahead
And loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
