This is an original nest box from The Save The Gouldian Fund site in Wyndham.
This box was Donated by the STGF, but we paid costs for it so no wild Gouldian would be affected by its absence.
All money raised from the auction will go to The STGF.
This box would be a great talking point for a Den or Bird room. Or perhaps you may even want to try it out or make another to its specifications to try on a captive bred pair.You will notice it has a very large entrance and only a narrow width for the bird to travel down. All STGF boxes are painted with very expensive paints to keep the inside at a temperature that will not overheat the occupants, and this box is no exception. This paint is also is reflective to heat and fire on the outside. In some cases when fire has gone through an area where these boxes are located, only the box remained after the tree burnt down.
This particular box is well traveled and has been through many wild gouldian populated areas, from Wyndham to Halls Creek and up to Darwin during the last Gouldian Count. I am sure Jaybird could tell you more about keeping it in pristine condition while traveling around The Kimberleys, Kakadu and the Top End.
