I can't quite get it in my head how this forum works regarding "Recent Posts", "Active Topics" and the archiving system.
Recent Posts are self explanatory...
Active Topics go back two pages to the 1st of December....
However, topics and posts that were active this morning can no longer be found in either section and have to be searched out in the archives, if you can find them. Could someone tell me how this works?
Confusion????????

The delays could be rectified if we spent around $1500 a year on a more advanced site but unless we sell merchandise or get donations it is a bit much to expect the site controllers to cover the cost for all out of their own pockets. It would be nice though as I like you have problems.I guess it is just another rural hic up

Sorry Orix not having a go at you or the owners. But posting something can be a bit of a challenge .

I know very little about phpBB, however I suspect it's posts from particular subforums that aren't being included in "Active Topics". My best guess is that there's a flag somewhere in the database for each subforum to turn on and off the "View Active Topics" feature. If this is so, then there's likely a checkbox in the admin controls that sets this flag. Or I might be completely wrong!Tintola wrote:Still confused about the disappearing posts and the archiving system.
Particularly slow this evening. This is my 2nd, no 3rd, no 4th posting attempt. I'm copying my post so I can paste rather than retype when it doesn't work. I presume it's a free hosting service?west finch wrote:Sorry Orix not having a go at you or the owners. But posting something can be a bit of a challenge .

I'd say this would be a paying one, but a small-fee hosting site. All the free ones I know don't allow custom domain name or ad-free!
Also, for free ones, I've found that Zetaboards are really good!

This is not a free hosting service.
As I have said before there are better ones but more expensive.
I do not know why I am commenting actually as I am struggling with even the basic IT areas.

I know that it has been mentioned before, with over 1000+ members why can't we all put in a donation so that no one group has to carry the costs?
Cheers Greg.

A small donation thingy that you click onto is often seen on other private sites ...members then donate what they can when they can .
