Greetings from NSW Central Coast. I've had birds ( mostly finches) all my life, with exception past 10 years ( change in life circumstances -work related - but all good). I've just built a new aviary, being told once it's in your blood it's with you forever - some truth in that I suspect.

The aviary is 7m x 3m, all undercover & adjoins a shed where I have started mealworms, maggots & crickets. The crickets are new to me, but a really easy & breeding well. The aviary is well planted, but being on all concrete I have used a raised garden bed. Yes - I've had some interesting challenges for water & drainage, but all are growing well - mostly grasses & natives. A misting & watering system plus UV lights also installed. Construction is aluminium, with black pvc coated 9mm wire. It's really come up well.

Having completed it 2 weeks ago, I've purchased a pair of Little Singers & Orange Breasts. Each pair settling in very well & carrying grass already !

I'm thinking of a few softbills this time around - Scarlet Honeyeaters, Wrens, Chats. I consider myself reasonably advanced ( if not a little rusty) and looking for connections in the general region to acquire stock. Although previously involved with generalist finch & aviculturalist clubs, I'm looking for a softbill club.

Welcome to the forum.

GPfinches who is on this forum should be able to help you out with lesser red-brows and Bruce H (who isn't active on the forum) should be able to help out with some of those softbills. Both are based on the Central Coast.

Thanks everyone for warm welcome & IAOS for the direction. I spoken to Bruce already & he also mention GP. I hope to make it to Hunter Valley Finch Club soon.
