Hello Finchers,
thought i'd stick my head in and introduce myself,
I'm Bryan Soane from Blaxland in the lower blue mountains NSW about 20 minutes from Penrith, as a kid i bred budgies and quails for pocket money, i have had my own property for 4 years now and the first thing i did was build an aviary on an existing concrete slab 3mx3m, i bred french maran chickens with good success then moved onto parrots which went well, i always had a separate smaller aviary with a pair of star finches in it and found that i spent most of my time watching them and not the parrots!! so i have recently sold/swapped my stock and redone the aviary for finches, by far the best decision i have made, i spend hours watching them do their business buzzing about,i have a pair of red brows, pair of double bars,2 pairs of gouldians and the stars. I'm also a very keen gardener and spend a lot of time in my garden, i grow french/jap millet,Amaranth, and comfrey. Just laid a slab for my second aviary now, exciting times ahead, if any of you guys live close by drop us a line !
thanks for having me
-Bryan

Finchbreeder,
buying the H3 timber today for it, its going to be roughly 3.5m x 4m almost fully closed in but with a open air front section, 300mm concrete rodent proof perimeter, thinking I may plant it out with a grevilia - dawson river weeper and some salt bush and native tuff grasses, we get really cold winters and hot summers up here , so im thinking a spray mist system for summer and perhaps clear plastic or fabric weatherproof curtains I can drop down when wet and windy. ill chuck some photos up soon
