Hi all, just spent the last few days cruising the forum and am impressed by the wide range of expertise on show - if i’d Have found it earlier it doubtless would have saved me some rodent issues. We started with a 3.5 m x 3 x 2.5 home built avairy to house some zebra (somehow 3 pair have turned into 60 + in 2 years) a few Gouldian’s & recently yellow & red painted, king & stubble quail. And now we seem to be adding new cages every summer........looking forward to reading more cheers Gary.

Congrats on the breeding of yer zebras Gary, seems like you've now got yerself a good stud of em

Yer definitely doing the wise thing in getting yerself some cages as to continue breeding em successfully and gain quality one really does need to breed in cages within a birdroom,

Hope all goes well for yer and welcome to the forum

Be lucky

Welcome to the forum. Think most of us have had the rodent problem at least once. Those deep foundations and tight doors are a must. How many avairys do you have now?

Hi - one colony aviary, one suspended (yep trying to avoid rodents - pity they as good at climbing adjacent trees as they are at digging) and one small patio / breeding cage. Just had our first three young painteds fledge along with a dozen or so Zebs so all going well at present.

Congratulations on the new younguns. If you can put all the birds into the newer avairys and deepen the foundations on the original it could make the digging problem go away.
