Hi my name is Sean and I live in ireland,I have in my collection green singers,Star finches an Irish Fancy canaries,I envy all you Aussies,with great access to wonderful wild seeds signal,gatton and barnyard grasses. I cant get them here.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

why don't you grow your own grass seeds? Below is a link to a thread about growing green grass seed for birds.

You can even grow them hydroponically or just indoors in pots.

Your birds might like thistle plants too, especially the seed and flower heads.

If you don't want to grow them indoors, grow them outdoors over spring and summer and freeze the green seed stalks for use later in the year.

Hi all,thank you for the warm welcome,i house my birds in a 12x10 wood shed,and all my birds are caged,as i dont have the room for aviarys,i use Versele Laga tropical seed mix,and i use local grown grasses,such as Cocksfoot,Timothy,Rye and smooth meadow grass.

Most grasses are good, just different in different parts of the world. :thumbup:
