Mostly Gouldians, plus an assortment of double bars, emblemas, cordons, red-faced parrotfinches, scarlet parrots, zebs, canaries, plum-headed parrots (although they're leaving soon), musk lorikeets.

From the late seventies to the mid eighties, I kept a large collection of waxbills, along with red Siskin, green singer, Cubans, jacarinis. I even had superb blue wrens.
Back then, termites were not as hard to obtain. I also breed my own meal worms. Occasionally, I also would aquire gents for the bait and tackle shop.
When I started breeding Gouldians, from the early eighties, in good numbers without live food, I completely Lost interest in procuring live food, and to this day, i haven’t looked back.
I now only keep Gouldians finches.
I find the genetics and the different colour mutations of these birds fascinating.
Have you been successful with breeding your birds, and how much live food do you feed?

Mixed levels of success, better with those that dont care for live food. Greens all year round, not a lot of live food. 2nd statement explains first.

Thank you Tony.
As you know, I specialise in Gouldian finches, and having
experienced & knowledgeable friends, who you can share information
with like yourself, makes this hobby much more enjoyable.

Luckily for quite a few of us here, being interesting is not a forum requirement, being interested (in finches and their welfare) is why we're here.
