Hi all!
Have been thinking about and reading about zebra finches for the last few months. Tomorrow, I'm buying two males locally.

Some of the info variously available on the net contradicts other info, so I'm interested to speak to you all and get more information :D

don't buy 2 zebra finches that are the same sex. Buy a male and female that are unrelated.

What information did you find contradictive on the web?

Welcome to the forum. If you do not wish to breed your finches yet, buy 3 males, that way if one is dominant he will not pick on the other too much because he will have two submissives. Enjoy.

Hi,
The Zebra Society of WA has a Facebook page (zebrafinchsocietywa) and a new website (zebrafinchsocietywa.org.au) which will be added to.
Lots of experience behind the club. You can join Facebook and ask questions as needed. Not taking away from this great site though.
If you do not want to breed and try and sell the young then by all means your idea of two or three males is good as you can enjoy these chirpy, engaging finches without worrying about being overstocked.
There is a contact email on the website.

Aye, as finchbreeder surmised, I'm not interested in breeding my finches just yet (intending to move house in the medium term) - hence my decision to buy two males.

I think I'll save specific behavioural questions for the relevant boards -
Though I'm wondering if there are books on finch keeping - it seems some time that anyone would write a "pamphlet" that forwards their magical product :lol:
