Hi All,

My name is Trent and live South Western Sydney.

I have a small outdoor aviary with a breeding pair of each red faced gouldians, painteds and red faced stars, and Bourke’s parrots.

I am looking to get a bigger aviary built as I am ‘suffering’ from too many young this year. Currently have 9 gouldians and 7 star juveniles, so have moved them into some into indoor cages to make room for more young due to fledge soon.

If anyone knows of a aviary builder (colourbond) in the area they would recommend please let me know.

I look forward to sharing information from my own experiences (struggled before it began to click) and likewise learning from the experiences of others.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum. You are obviously doing something right with the success you are having. How big is the "small" avairy?

1580w x 860d x 1785h. It is on a trolley base with mesh floor and 2 trays underneath.

Try for double that next time if you can. then you can use the existing avairy for a holding avairy. The existing avairy really is a little small for the number of birds you have. But again, you are obviously doing everything else right with the sucess you are having.

Yes, that is exactly the plan. Looking at at 2995x1620. Getting on trolley with wheels is proving a bit exe. though. Backyard is paved, so thinking maybe ditch the wheels and have trays still but maybe putting on artificial grass to keep off pavers, provide some insulation and enable it to be moved around if needed.

Sounds like a good plan. Hope it works for you and the birds.

Hi Trent, welcome to the forum
If you want a larger aviary, there are plenty of people on gumtree.com.au who have new and used aviaries, and there are also contractors on there that build professionally built aviaries
Thanks
