Hi guys. Hi from Toolern Vale, Victoria.
I have recently setup a quail pen. 3 weeks ago i decided to add my first ever birds. A pair of Gouldians and 4 Canaries. Since then i have also added a couple of Zebra Finces.

All seem to be doing great so far. I have been reading forums and watching as many videos as possible in a hope to learn the basics.

Any tips and knowledge you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Feed your birds seeding grasses that have been picked from a safe part of your garden, or grow some of your bird seed in pots for them to eat green. For that number of birds you will need 5 nest boxs, to begin with. All of these birds are willing to nest in small wooden boxs, at my place. All of them are also willing to nest in cardboard tubes, at my place. The boxs can vary between 15/20cm square or rectangle with one side each length. Ditto the tubes circumfrence and length. The birds enter the tubes from the side not the top. Block one end off with cardboard cut from an empty box. Make sure that the birds get morning sun and protection from cold winds as small birds are in need of chill protection. And most important of all - enjoy.
