Hi All,
We have 2 Girls 13 & 10, and a Shoodle, have kept indoor and outdoor budgies and fish in the past, and always enjoyed our Uncles finch aviary.
We have an indoor Conure currently and picked up a 2nd hand octagonal aviary yesterday.
It will be positioned to be enjoyed from our deck and backyard.
We will spend the next few weeks prepping it, we want to concrete a pad.
We border a 5 acre park, so want to ensure we get it rat proof before we put birds in it.
We are having fun researching types, feeding and housing online and will no doubt start with some Zebras, my Husband is looking into sprouting and I’ve been looking at natives, looking forward to accessing the whole forum and reading all the hidden knowledge.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Designing your avairy to keep rats out from the beginning is very wise, as it's difficult to do retroactively.

Welcome to the forum. You probably already know, but the most important thing in positioning a finch avairy is morning sunshine. Postition the avairy facing North, Northeast, or East. In that order of preference. Enjoy.
