Hi - i'm planning on keeping gouldian finches (have none yet, still researching). The colors of the wild type really caught my eye.
Can anybody point me in the right direction where I can read more on the different color mutations in gouldians? It's really confusing. The more i research the more I get confused. Just as an example are the yellow mutations. I've read that there is a basic yellow recessive mutation but then I saw there are also European yellow, Australian Yellow and Lutino. I'm not sure if some of them are the same and just called differently. So if you can recommend a site/book/blog anything that could help explain the different mutations that would be great.
BTW - I used to breed and race pigeons and was also interested in their different color mutations.

Welcome to the forum. How many avairies are you building? There is quite a lot on this forum about the ideal avairy for Gouldians.

Odds are, once you get the hang of it you will build a 2nd avairy, then a 3rd. It is adictive, but in the best possible way. Enjoy.
