How often does this happen

Birds just about finished their molt and centre bird has a distinct half purple and half white breast.

I haven't bred Gouldians for a while but had a cock bird the same.

Bred from the bird and its progeny over a number of years and it never reappeared.

You may find it could change in future moults. Seems to be a "sport" rather than a mutation

Like Tiaris ,need to see the other half of the bird ,might be a half sider,i have one here it's white breasted blue back on one half with all the coloring of a normal blue back and green back on the other side,this bird belongs to another forum member,but unusual to say the least,garyh

Unusual,but i think you will find it will moult out,one way or the other next year,my guess would be white ,cheers gary

I've seen this once on a yellow back hen of mine and it did end up moulting out to purple, it also ended up being split to Australian yellow.
