What does everyone use for nests baskets or the Woden nest boxes . My manaquins are using baskets but they ear nesting between 3 baskets. As far as nesting material goes I tried swamp grass but they just ate that so I put long grass from the lawn and they went crazy over that between eating it and using it for the nests.

Mannikins (Bengalese I assume) are not at all fussy where they nest. If they use baskets, that's fine. Boxes may better facilitate nest inspections though.

My Bengos will nest in boxes and old plastic bait baskets, or if there is a suitable spot, make their own nests with grasses. I give them lots of seeding grasses, cut long, and they use it for nesting after eating the seeds. Also couch grass runners cut long and strips of white tissue. Very easy going birds.
