I love the sound of Zebras but don't want them to breed in my mixed aviary.
I want the remainder of the finches to breed.

1). Is it mean to just constantly remove their eggs? I only want one pair of zebs.
2). What would likely happen if I just kept a couple of males in the mixed aviary?
3). What would likely happen if I just kept a couple of females?

Thanks,
Dave

Depends what your other species are to some extent, but even a pair or couple of spares are likely to be intrusive to the point of disruption with other finch species. IMO zebs are best kept on their own or in with Neophemas, small Doves or other "villain" finches like Cutthroats, Javas, etc. I keep some with Scarlet-chested Parrots & both breed well with no probs. I won't put them in my mixed finch aviaries though.

If you do not want to breed them, then get a couple of boys, as there are always more boys arround. And enjoy the happy sound of them.

I have a mixed aviary and managed to have Gouldians, RF parrots, Painteds, Cordons and Cubans breed together with Zebras. This year I put zebras in the breeding cages and I got European Goldfinches to breed too.
So during breeding seasons my zebras are locked and breeding, not bothering other finches.

I breed my zebras in my spare finch holding aviary.

I breed my Zebs across my 3 breeding avairys and periodicly exile them to the holding avairy. It's all about if you want to breed them.
