The cock has been sitting in the nest for 5 weeks. I can't see into the nest to check the egg status. I assume something should have happened by now. At what stage should I remove the nest for a clean out? Generally how long does it take before most finch eggs hatch?

Takes 14 days max to hatch so probably sitting on clear eggs.
