Redbrows

My day got real good this afternoon, i have a small collection of Australians in an aviary, Stars, Double Bars, Red Brows and a pair of Chestnuts, in there this afternoon giving them their mealworms and greens and spotted a bub red brow flying around. I knew the red brows had a nest but no feeding sounds or anything. I know my stars have young ones by the way a cpl of hens are getting into the mealworms but still quiet.

Congratulations certainly not the easiest finch to breed. One of the harder Aussie ones from my experience.

Now i have 2 more younguns in another nest so at least something in there likes the accommodation , these are in a live plant.

Yes when I bred them they always bred in live shrubbery and extremely quiet and secretive

Try giving them broken up figs . . mature or dry . . mine used to love the 'seeds' (which are apparently actually florets/ tiny flowers with tiny seeds inside)
No native figs are toxic, so try the one from your area
They can be a bit of a 'turn-on' for Redbrows, and other finches will learn to take them as well
