Canary confusion contiues

Hi again
Thanks for the replies on my last post but my confusion continues. So lately my canaries have been making a chattering sound that almost sounds like babies. They make it all day long. Does anyone know what this means? Also, I have provided several nesting cups in the aviary in different positions but they seem to prefer the enclosed wicker nests. Again, although I have several provided they have chosen 2 and both the so called pairs are squishing into the nest together! ( one pair in 1 nest, the other In the nest next door)They seem happy and there is no fighting. do male canaries ever sit in the nests?
I am beginning to suspect I have 4 females who have paired up and are trying to raise a family without a male. Would love some insight.
