Hi everyone,
Would it be alright to put Gouldians with BFPFs together in an aviary, would they hybridise? What’s everyone else’s experiences?

Yep, no worries with that combination. BFPF are very active and nosy, so might disturb the Gouldians by sticking their noses into the nest at times but they will not breed with each other. Good luck.

To contradict the author, my sources indicate that parrot finch hybrids are almost certain to be fertile

Have never kept them together. But if they can they may. I have made the mistake with other related birds that "probably wouldn't" in the past. Better to put them in seperate avairies.

Well, I'm gonna go out on a limb and put them together. This is because all my aviaries are full except the mixed collection and there's no way on earth my parents would get me another aviary.

I've had my pair of BFPF's in with a spare hen Gouldian for a fair few months, no problems have occurred
If worst comes to worst which is unlikely, just chuck the eggs
Thanks

I’ve only got a spare hen in right now, and the Gouldians are mating themselves, so I’m pretty sure they’re fine.
